Gas Expander is a powerful, user friendly, program for the analysis of expansion turbines. An expansion turbine (Turboexpander) is a device for converting the energy of a gas or vapor stream into mechanical work as the gas or vapor expands through the turbine. The expansion process occurs rapidly, and heat transferred  to or from the gas is usually very small. Consequently, the exit temperature of the gas may be quite low.  This feature allows the expander to find application as a component of refrigeration systems. The other use of Turboexpanders is in power recovery. When a large flow of gas is reduced from a high pressure to some lower pressure, or when high-temperature process streams are available at moderate pressures, the energy can be recovered to drive pumps, fans, etc.
